cel-shading >:C Is that all the GameCube has? It would have been cooler if it had Goraud anime graphics a la Xenosaga, but they voluntarily chose not to use more colors for a stupid reason. Meh. At least it doesn't suck as much as other cel-shaded games; this one looks more like anime and has black edges which allow you to get a glimpse of WTF is happening since everything is the same color. Doesn't look too bad this time, just I'd have liked it better if it were to use the 16.7M colors of the GameCube in my color TV.
The combat system looks great, and the anime FMV is pretty high quality (higher quality than a lot of new anime...). 5 more games like this one or better, especially if not cel-shaded, and I might reconsider buying a GameCube.

There's about... 2 game son GCN that are cel shaded. ANd Tales characters aren't the SD Wind Waker chars, they look like moving anime, like you said.
When's the X-men legend ssupposed to come out, phaq? I've been waiting for awhile for that too >_<

I agree with Phaq there, there are times when cel-shading is appropriate. Tales of Symphonia is one of those times, although, we're going to have a looong wait.
DBZ Budokai 2 makes example of that, looks BETTER than the cartoon (more consistent - obviously) and truly makes the cel shading of wind waker look...well, silly.
However, the character models of ToS look very well rendered, and the gameplay looks spot on (if it doesnt over-complicate itself with the whole 3d-ness of the battles).
I agree (i say this a lot) with wiseman, simply because the GC's capabilities are no-where near being taken full advantage of, its been a little disappointing so far. But games like this, FFCC, MGS:TT and Baten Kaitos wll make it aaaaall worth it (if they bloody well release it in europe, that is).
Peace out [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

cell shading can be a great thing, specially if used for something that started off as a cartoon/comic. i havne't seen it in action, but from screens that new ps2 dbz game looked hella good.
